I wanted a mostly clear desk and needed something to hold my work laptop and KVM. This was perfect for my desk but it came with one of the corners dented. Luckily it doesn’t interfere with the functionality of product.I was looking for a metal keyboard tray to replace the plastic one I had which cracked after 12 years of use. This product is a very solid metal tray that took me about 30 minutes to assemble and install to the underside of my desk (I have a hand-made wood slab for a desk and I screwed the brackets directly into the wood). Unfortunately it has two design flaws. The first is the recessed area located where your hand rests on the tray below the space bar. It would be ideal to have this as an even surface. The second issue is the mousepad that is anchored by a single point under the tray. It is not a very solid attachment point if you like to rest your hand on the mouse and put any weight on it; if you do the mouse pad tilts about 5-10 degrees and does not sit flat. The tray I had before was a much better design and I wish I could find that design in a metal. I will probably end up using the brackets for this tray and making my own out of wood. This all-metal tray feels better than my Kensington, which has a plastic tray. Much more streamlined. The supports allow about 1" desk support frame; more than that and you'll need an extension to increase the drop. The front edge is a little sharp (not cutting) on the inside front lip. It could have been rolled for safety. The tray feels solid while in use. A bit tight for a full keyboard and mouse, so I use my mouse on the desk top, and store it inside the tray when done. Rolls out fine. And a reasonable price too!Was disappointed that item advertised color is black, but what I received is gray!! Minor damage in shipping, one corner bent, but a block of wood and hammer fixed that. Funny, the glides are black, just not the keyboard tray itself!!! Bummer!! I will say, it is a very sturdy all metal keyboard drawer!Bought this because my cheep plastic one busted this one is all metal and a lot stronger .I use it for storing my laptop and a eating tray lol ...yes I spend a lot of time on the computer lolFirst, this product came with no instructions. It’s pretty simple to figure out, but still.Second, 2 of the screw heads snapped off while attaching the tray to the underside of my desk! I was gently **hand** driving the screws so nothing would get damaged by my powerful drill, and they snapped right off.I’m very concerned the other screws will snap off too and will be reinforcing them shortly. After being installed about a month, it has come off the track 4 times already. The last time, pieces started breaking. This is not easy to install and does not hold up to even gently use. While it was working, it was awesome. Perfect size, organization, and extension for my work desk. But not long lasting. After a month of normal office use, it is broken. Not a good investment.First of all, I realize that color deviations occur, but ordered this in black, and I got a gray one. Kind of a big miss there. Secondly, there are no assembly instructions included with this package, so if you aren't someone who is generally handy you're gonna have an unnecessarily difficult time trying to figure out -how- to assemble it. On the plus side, it is a quality build, decent materials and the drawers are smooth.
